My honors include recognition from the Online News Association for my Cup O' Joel blog in 2005; a first-place award from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters for my commentary on Kansas Public Radio; and I was twice honored — in 2015 and 2016 — for my online commentary by the City and Regional Magazine Association. CRMA called my PhillyMag.com opinion writing "an up-close, straight-talk take on the issues."
