Tim Tebow's ostentatious faith

National Review's Mario Loyola tries to get to the bottom of why Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow annoys people so much, and concludes: "People aren’t upset at Tebow’s God talk. They’re upset that he might actually believe it."

Meh. Tim Tebow doesn't bother me one way or another, though I admit to finding his success this season rather fascinating. (And I'm not really a football guy.) Nonetheless, when I see his ostentatious displays of faith on the field, I'm reminded of some old gospel verses
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Guy named Jesus supposedly said that. But I'm sure Tim Tebow knows better.

It's so completely different nowadays though, in that time and place the super pious and holy were greatly respected. In our time and place it's completely uncool, to put it lightly, to be pious, especially the Christian variety. So what he's doing is actually, in my opinion, pretty courageous.

To whoever created this post:

Yes, Jesus did says that BUT he was referring to the Sadducees and Pharisees (Religious People) who ONLY pray on the street corners and in public to be seen so that people can see how Holy they are. Tebow has a Love for Jesus Christ and prays wherever he goes which is commanded for us Christians to do. He is not doing it for a reaction from people, as you know, he's mocked wherever he goes. So that's the difference between religious people who ONLY pray in public, out loud for ALL to see vs. a man who truly loves the Lord and who is praying for you and your family as well (Non-believers) So if you ever have time to get to know the Lord, you'll quickly find out that we Christians are praying for all of you non-believers out there in hopes that you'll come to know the truth. =)
